Monday
Light your candle. Take a minute or two and wait on the Lord in silence. Read Isaiah 60:1-6 - out loud if that’s helpful. If you are in a gathering, take turns reading the scripture. Focus suggestion:reflect on the words light, glory, brightness, and then add to the list other words that strike you.Lord, in Your great mercy, shine Your light on me this day - on my family - my friends - people I like and don’t like - on our world. Make a list of the people above and pray God’s light to shine over each one.
Tuesday
Light your candle. Take a minute or two and wait on the Lord in silence. Read Isaiah 61:1-3, 8-11 - again, out loud if that’s helpful. Name what God asks you to do when God’s Spirit comes upon you: proclaim, bind up - what else? Ask God to pour the Holy Spirit on you today and help you to honor Him.
Wednesday
Light your candle. Take a minute or two and wait on the Lord in silence. Read from John 8:12 - Name some places of darkness in your life - as you list those, pray the name of Jesus over them - each one, one by one. Ask God to give you an illuminated view of each circumstance - looking at it through God’s eyes.
Thursday
Light your candle. Take a minute or two and wait on the Lord in silence. Read Psalm 27. What three words are connected in v. 1? See v. 4. See v.13-14.
Friday
Light your candle. Take a minute or two and wait on the Lord in silence. Read Isaiah 9:2. Take some moments to rejoice, celebrate, and thank God for the times when God’s light (wisdom, courage, strength, help) made a difference for you. Give God praise from these times.
Saturday
Light your candle. Again, take a moment to center yourself, your thoughts, your desires with Jesus Christ in mind. Read Acts 26:18. Ask God for revelation so that anything that might be separating God and you would be revealed to you. Confess to God your need for forgiveness, deliverance, help, strength, etc. Receive God’s forgiveness in Jesus name.
Sunday
Light your candle. Repeat the name of Jesus several times - don’t rush - let His name surround you and “soak” in for a few minutes. Read 2 Corinthians 4:6. Pray this prayer: God, let Your light shine in my heart so that Your light might be displayed in my face. In Jesus name.
