Though we are sad that we aren’t able to meet together for KidVenture, we want to provide you with an experience for all of our KidVenture kids and families! This experience is designed to work through at your own pace. Throughout the experience, there are opportunities to share with us. Pick some activities and get started! Enjoy!

Lesson: You Are Part of Jesus’ Team

Week of: March 27

Scripture: Luke 10:1-2; Hebrews 10:23-25

Activity: Play Ball!

Get at least one other person and go somewhere that you can play catch or kick a ball around together for a while. It’s hard to play catch by yourself! Be part of a team together and enjoy each other’s company while you play ball! While you play, consider saying the Remember Verse together or listening/singing some songs you typically hear in KidVenture.

Watch the Video:

Crossroads Kid’s Club video: God’s Story: Peter and the Other Believers

Bible Activity:

Read Luke 10:1-2 and Hebrews 10:23-25

Discussion:

God wants us to share His love with everyone, no matter where we are and no matter what we are doing.

  • Have you ever been part of a team?

  • Did you make some good friends?

  • What are some things you learned as part of the team?

  • How is your family a team?

  • How can you be a good teammate and help encourage the others on your team?

  • What do you think it was like to be one of Jesus’ close friends (a disciple)?

  • What does it mean to be part of Jesus’ team?

Worship:

Peter and the disciples spent a lot of time praising and worshiping God together. Here are some songs we love to sing along to and also simply have on in the background anytime.

Song: Trust in the Lord

Songs from 2019 ROAR VBS:

  • I’m Trusting You

  • Whole Lotta Change

  • I Will Not Be Afraid

  • No Matter What I’m Facing

Songs from Shipwrecked VBS:

  • My Lighthouse

  • Million Reasons

Songs to search (YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Prime Music):

  • “This Is Amazing Grace” by Phil Wickham

  • “Lord I Need You” by Matt Maher

  • “Glorious Day” by Passion (feat. Kristian Stanfill)

  • “Who You Say I Am” by Hillsong Worship

  • “Good Good Father” by Chris Tomlin

  • “Lord I Need You” by Matt Maher

  • “Our God” by Chris Tomlin

  • “Alive” by Hillsong Young & Free

  • “What a Beautiful Name” by Hillsong Worship

Remember Verse:

Proverbs 3:5–6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your path straight.

  • Memorization Options: Younger kids focus on the first sentence. Older kids are encouraged to memorize the whole verse.

  • Work together to create actions to help remember the verse. Share a video on Facebook or email them to KidVenture.

  • Perform the Remember Verse in different voices or while jumping, running in place, dancing, etc. Your younger kids in Preschool 4, Kindergarten and 1st grade are used to doing this each Sunday and Wednesday. Ask your kids how they want to say the verse. They have some fantastic ideas!

Response:

Peter and the other Disciples spent a lot of time working together, sharing meals together and telling people about Jesus together! You are part of God’s team too! What are some ways you and your family could tell people about Jesus or remind people about Jesus’ love even while you’re home during this time? Talk to your family and develop a plan to work together to show God’s love to someone.

Activity:Sharing The Big God Story

In today’s part of The Big God Story, we learned that Peter and the disciples spent a lot of time telling others about Jesus and sharing His love with others. After Jesus invited them to be part of His team, they learned from Him. He showed them the very best way to live. Then, when it was time, they shared all they had learned with others.

SUPPLIES

  • Dominoes

  • Flat surface

ENGAGE

Let’s use these dominoes to show how we could spread God’s Big Story to a lot of people!

  • Take a domino. Tell children that the domino represents you!

  • Stand your domino up and place another one behind it that represents another person. Tell the children that this is to show that you told that other person about Jesus.

  • Continue adding dominoes—That person tells someone else about Jesus...

  • And so on… Suddenly we have a long train of people who know about Jesus!

  • Encourage kids to make “trains” of dominoes behind the first one that represents themselves so that it shows they can tell The Big God Story to many different people. Make a long train—even around your house! You can also have multiple trains starting from behind one domino. Be creative with it.

  • When you are all finished, and you’ve taken a few pictures, you can knock down your train(s). What fun!

  • Share pictures of your domino trains with us:

Activity: Thankful/Prayer Chains

SUPPLIES

  • Paper (kids can cut into narrow strips)

  • Scissors

  • Tape (for making strips into chain links)

Add to your Thankful Chain: Last week, some of you started a “Thankful Chain.” Continue that this week! You also could change it a bit by writing the name of a person you want to pray for on a link.

  • On each paper chain, decorate it and write or draw something you are thankful for

  • Add chains every day and see how long you can make your Thankful Chain!

  • Send a picture of your chains to the KidVenture email or post it on the KidVenture Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/calvarykidventure).

  • Feel free to share more pictures as it gets longer!

Prayer Time: Sharing of Joys and Concerns & Praying Together

Gather the children and say: Let’s pray together. Share praises and prayers. Using the phrase, “How can I pray for you?” is open-ended and encourages responses.

Go around the group and share joys and concerns. Encourage each person to share. Then, close by praying together. Allow all who want to pray out loud a chance to share. You could have one start then move to another, another, and so on. You are encouraged to take a turn also.

Blessing:

Ask your children to hold out their hands to receive this blessing you speak over them. A blessing implies a future hope, so speak these words with hope for your children!

Name(s), may you know that Jesus loves you and is always with you. May you remember that you are part of His team! May you find ways to share His love and The Big God Story with others. Amen.
